Coloured Bleach FAQ’s

Remember. This is a bleach.

Don”t go messing around with 20 and 30 vol mixtures UNLESS you would do this with normal bleach on that same client.

It will damage the hair the same way bleach does

Just because it”s pretty does not mean that it won”t swell, over process or jellify the hair.

It is a bleach. Not a tint.

PLEASE NOTE: Ensure client is gowned up and covered well.
This colour WILL stain on skin and clothes so wear gloves and be careful with your application.
Mixing:
2 parts peroxide to 1 part coloured bleach.
Example for 4 slices on medium to long hair, mix 10 grams of your chosen coloured bleach to 20 mls cream
peroxide.

Processing
time:
20 to 40 minutes with no heat.
For more information, please check out our FAQ”s below or our MSDS page for further technical information.

Do I have to pre lighten to get vibrancy using Coloured Bleach?

No. No pre lightening is required. However if you are applying over a MASSIVE build up of artificial colours, some mild pre lightening is recommended to break through this build up.

Can I use Coloured Bleach on already coloured hair?

Yes you can. It”s a bleach and that is the magic of it. It will lift artificial pigment from the hair. Will it lift dark brown and black hair? If normal bleach will shift that colour easily, so will Coloured Bleach. Just be conscious of your peroxide selection and don”t mix up a 30vol mix and applied to bleached out hair for 40 minutes. Your client will not be happy.

If there is a massive amount of colour build up it will probably take more than 1 go to get the vibrancy and you need to be conscious of the quality of the hair.

What peroxides can I use?

Remember this is a bleach like product. So treat it like bleach. You can use any cream peroxide.

20vol (6%) is best.
We”ve used between 10vol (3%) and 20vol (6%) in foils but have used up to 40vol in an on scalp application.
This product is much gentler than bleach and you don”t get that raw tingling that you get with on scalp bleach applications. In fact, some clients have said they feel less scalp irritation with this than using a permanent colour on scalp.

Can I apply this all over on using a full head on scalp application technique?

USE A BARRIER CREAM AS STAINING WILL OCCUR AROUND HAIRLINE.

Yes you can do a full head on scalp application but like a full head on scalp bleach, your application needs to be even and completed with perfection to get the best results. If you aren”t confident in a full head bleach application we wouldn”t recommend you attempt it with our product. Stick to creative &#8221For now, the main focus of the organization is exclusively on foiling application techniques.

Do I use heat?

No. There is no need as it is a bleach like product, it is self heating after mixing.

What is the processing time?

For best results we recommend to process for 20 minutes but no longer than 40 minutes total time. (30 minutes on scalp application and apply lower level peroxide mix to ends. Process entire application for a further 10 minutes.)

How long does the vibrancy last?

Like all vibrant colour products, it depends on the type of shampoo, how often you shampoo and so on.
We have seen clients that shampoo everyday using professional products and the vibrancy has been amazing for 4 weeks (after 30 shampoos!).

Please Note: The purple bleach will fade through to pink on a level 8 or higher especially if it is pre-lightened.

What about the 4 to 6 week touch up?

Use a 20 vol mix with your preferred colour to the regrowth area only and process for 15 – 25 minutes.
Use a 5 vol mix and apply to the midlengths and ends for a further 8 – 10 minutes.

Can I create a “pastel” look with Coloured Bleach?

You sure can. You will get the best results when you are working with hair 2 – 3 shades darker than your goal. Depending on the how pastel and the quality of the hair;

mix 1 part coloured bleach to 1 or 2 parts “normal” bleach. Then add 2 times the amount of your chosen peroxide as the bleach powder. Mix well and let sit for 2 minutes. Mix well again to ensure the colour granules and the normal bleach are mixed to a super smooth consistency. Process for 20 – 30 minutes with no heat.

How do I remove Coloured Bleach from my hair?

There is no remover for Coloured Bleach. You can only wait for it to fade or colour over it with a darker shade. If your client wants a colour that “washes out” you should choose a vege dye instead. Coloured Bleach is for clients that love vibrancy but hate the fading.
